Plato Suffered an Injury
Plato is a big 16.3 19yo Dutch warm blood who suffered an injury coming down the ramp 3 years ago. Ever since that incident he never felt quite right behind, losing balance and rhythm in his mediums and extensions. Flying changes to the left were always more jerky than to the right.
'I used Hack Up Blend at 60g per day for 4 weeks, as I wanted to give him every chance of a full recovery and I have to say he’s now a different horse. He feels uphill and fluent through his transitions and my trainer and List 1 judge (Kim Ratcliffe) now rates my chances at PSG. A year ago that would simply be a dream!' Jayne Smith
Plato is now on a low level dosage of 25g per day on a long term basis, and doing very well on it.
April
April is a 17yr old Dartmoor type mare who was diagnosed with navicular pain due to arthritis 2 years ago. April would become lame following work and showed particular discomfort with walking out, walking downhill and turning on the forehand. She was retired from work and treated like a lamanitic to ensure the problem wasnt compounded. She has been fed a variety of remedies to aleviate the symptoms and pain that she displayed. Movefree liquid and corn oil were recommended and appeared to give some comfort. My 10 year old daughter recently decided to begin riding and in July we began a 1 sachet per day of Bute after another examination by our vet to support April should she be set back through work. The Bute prevented April from displaying signs of pain - unwillingness to walk out, stiffness, general depression and stubborn behaviour. But the success of my daughters riding and relationship with April meant that a long term solution needed to be sought, and the long term effects of Bute on the stomach is widely known. Hack Up Blend was trialled after support and advice from Hack up and as no deteriation in April's condition ensued we continued with one sachet per day after the two weeks loading dose. April has been taking Hack Up Blend for approx 6 weeks and despite her excessive drinking at night - and wet bedding to muck out in the morning, she appears to be thriving. April is now cantering with Rachel (my daughter) and hacking out 2/3 times per week for at least an hour each time. She has not shown any signs of lameness - in fact she is visably more supple and has exhibited happier behaviour - less stroppy with my horse and easier to manage (no longer barges out of stable, or bites when girth tightened). I am very impressed with the magic powder and have already recommended it to horsey friends!
