Alex Gingell

An almost fatal accident forced Alex Gingell to re think his life with horses. A scholarship with a British Team trainer, dressage judging and a decade of supplying supplements to horse owners and trainers in his impressive portfolio is now combined in Hack Up Ltd for 2011.

Alex was born into a family steeped in horses. His late grandmother, Betty Gingell was the longest serving master of a pack of harrier hounds ever (52 years) and was an extremely well renowned showing competitor and judge. The family have owned and managed the Cottenham Point-to-Point course near Cambridge for generations with father and brother being amateur champion jockeys at one point in their lives.

Alex came through the Pony Club ranks winning virtually everything (from Area Dressage and Horse Trials to the Calvert and Gosling Cups) and was supported enormously by mother Angela who was DC for 12 years in the Newmarket and Thurlow branch. Alex began junior trials at the age of 14 on Countryman and was long listed for the Junior British team in the following year. Having been placed in every trial, Alex was selected to compete in Punchstown for the team when his horse developed tendon trouble.

In 1991, Alex was ranked 31 in the top 100 with Eventing magazine when he suffered a serious head injury at Weston Park Advanced. During his convalescence he became a dressage judge, reaching list 4 within a few years and studied a Ba Hons in Equine Studies at the Warwickshire College of Agriculture. He created Horse Health Newmarket Ltd shortly afterwards and has been supplying the top Newmarket yards with veterinary products and nutritional advice for 15 years. Equine Oxyshot came to Newmarket in 2006 and Alex took the product on nationally due the obvious calming effects it had on tense horses. He was responsible for distribution of the product to over 500 stores. Now settled on the outskirts of Bury in Suffolk, Alex splits his time between dressage judging, dressage training and formulating / creating supplements for customers.
